WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT...SUICIDE
This session explores why suicidal thoughts may be more common among teens today and what to do if you’re struggling or worried about a friend. It covers how to recognise warning signs, when to reach out for help, and how to have open conversations about mental health in a way that feels safe and supportive. The session also offers guidance for those coping with the loss of someone to suicide.
DRUGS, ALCOHOL, VAPING & PARTY SAFETY
Ever felt under pressure to try things you know you shouldn’t or just want to be informed about staying safe around drugs, alcohol, and vaping? This session provides essential information on the real effects and risks, the laws, and how to make solid decisions in social situations.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR PARENTS - AND ACTUALLY GET ON
In this session, we explore how to improve your relationship with your parents.. We’ll talk about how to deal with them when you think they are controlling or over protective, and what to do when they’re stressed, angry, or just not listening. We’ll also discuss how their behaviour can make you feel and how to think about boundaries that work for both you and them.
I HATE THE WAY I LOOK – WHY IS EVERYONE MORE CONFIDENT THAN ME?
Adolescence is a challenging time, and issues related to self-confidence and self-perception are common. Here, Dr Sarah-Jane Knight discusses how, by understanding that these feelings are universal and taking proactive steps to mitigate their impact, teenagers can navigate this period more smoothly.
SOCIAL MEDIA - I LOVE IT BUT I HATE IT
In this session, we looked at social media and how it might be making you feel. Maybe you’re feeling stressed about keeping up with your online image, worried about missing out, or upset by things people say online. We’ll talk about why these things happen, how social media can affect your mood, and what you can do to feel better and stay true to yourself in the digital world.
I’M CHANGING SCHOOLS & I’M TERRIFIED
With the school holidays over, many teens are stressed out about starting at a new school. We want to talk about connecting with friends and peers and finding a way to keep calm while navigating all the new changes. Plus, some tips on getting back into a routine, and finding ways to feel less nervous and more at home in your new school.
SELF-HARM - BREAKING THE CYCLE
We want to talk about Self-Harm - we all know someone who has self-harmed, maybe we want to find out more about why they do it, maybe our motive is to help them or help ourselves. Please watch this 30 minute discussion if this is something affecting you or your friends.
I FEEL SO LOW - WHAT’S WRONG WITH ME?
We all experience ups and downs at some point in school or college, and we will all feel down or upset by certain things going on at some time or another. But what if you’ve been feeling like this for a while and could you have low mood or depression?
We ask Dr Sarah-Jane how to get out of it, as well as how to talk to your parents, and what you can do about your mind going round and round in circles.
DEALING WITH ANXIETY & STRESS
A certain amount of nerves and anxiety is ok, right? We will talk to Dr Sarah-Jane Knight about teen anxiety, what you might notice it, and what you can do about it so you can tell the difference between what you can cope with and when you might need a bit of help.
FRIENDSHIP ISSUES
Good friendships seem to be the ones that let us be ourselves but its's easier said than done. Friends and friendships can be really hard at school and college; which is exactly when you need a friend to turn to!
Tune in to this Student Session if you're finding it tough to make new friends, or feeling left out of an old friendship group. Remember, you're not on your own with this.
